Foreign media on August 8: Peru's Ministry of Energy and Mines said on Tuesday that copper production in June was 241,801 tons, an increase of 21.8% over the same period last year.
Copper production in the first six months of the year was up 17.6% from a year earlier, thanks in part to an increase in output in June.
Production of zinc, lead and iron also increased during the month, the ministry added.
Copper production fell sharply earlier this year after massive protests broke out across the country.
But mining group Grupo de Mexico is optimistic about the production outlook, saying last month that tensions will ease.
The Peruvian government said in April that total copper production would reach 2.8 million tonnes in 2023.
