It was learned from the China Iron and Steel Industry Association on August 2 that in the first half of 2023, the overall operation of my country's iron and steel industry was stable, and both output and export volume achieved double growth.
According to the latest data, in the first half of the year, the national steel output was 536 million tons, a year-on-year increase of 1.3%; pig iron output was 452 million tons, a year-on-year increase of 2.7%; steel output was 677 million tons, a year-on-year increase of 4.4%. In the first half of the year, my country's crude steel consumption fell by 1.9% year-on-year, of which the proportion of steel used in the construction industry decreased. However, the continuous growth of ships, automobiles, household appliances, wind power steel, and photovoltaic steel has effectively supported the growth of steel types and quantities in the manufacturing industry.
According to the statistics of the General Administration of Customs, in the first half of the year, my country exported 43.58 million tons of steel products, a year-on-year increase of 31.3%. While the output and export volume increased, iron and steel enterprises steadily promoted energy conservation and emission reduction, and the level of environmental protection continued to improve.
According to data from the China Iron and Steel Association, in the first half of the year, the comparable energy consumption per ton of steel of iron and steel enterprises members of the Iron and Steel Association decreased by 1.33% year-on-year, the total amount of discharged wastewater decreased by 14.17% year-on-year, and the emission of particulate matter decreased by 14.85% year-on-year.
