Expanded vitrified microsphere thermal insulation mortar has been widely used in building insulation projects in hot summer and cold winter areas due to its unique technical advantages, especially in Sichuan. Based on our long-term construction experience, we have summarized how to test the quality of expanded vitrified microbead insulation mortar at the construction site.
To detect the quality of expanded vitrified microbead thermal insulation mortar, we can now judge its quality by testing its dry powder density. In the design of internal and external wall insulation of buildings, 0.07 is usually used as the thermal conductivity of expansion insulation mortar. According to national standards, to achieve a thermal conductivity below 0.07, the dry density of the material must be below 300 kilograms per cubic meter. In on-site engineering practice, only a few manufacturers' materials can reach this dry density. In most cases, the dry density of materials is above 400 kg, which makes the thermal resistance of the material fail to meet the design requirements. If inorganic insulation mortar with a dry density of more than 350 is used, the thickness of the insulation layer may need to be more than 6 cm to meet the requirements. Excessive insulation on one side may cause safety problems. Therefore, the dry powder density of the materials is randomly checked on site. If it does not reach below 300, it will be deemed as unqualified.
