Foreign media news on July 18: The European Union will discuss issues related to the implementation of international trade rules to resolve disputes caused by Indonesia's nickel export ban. The rules allow the bloc to take countermeasures when other countries violate international rules and allow the bloc to halt dispute settlement procedures so the bloc does not strike any deals that hurt its profits.
If relevant EU parties have suggestions, they must submit them before August 11, 2023. Meanwhile, the EU will continue to work towards a deal with Indonesia on nickel exports. The EU argues that the ban has driven up nickel prices and hurt other consuming countries.
