On the same day, the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology and the People's Government of Ningxia Hui Autonomous Region held a press conference in Beijing, announcing that the 2023 China Computing Power (Infrastructure) Conference will be held in Yinchuan, Ningxia, from August 18 to 19.
Zhang Yunming, Vice Minister of the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology, introduced at the meeting that according to the calculations of the China Academy of Information and Communications Technology, the scale of China's core computing power industry will reach 1.8 trillion yuan (RMB, the same below) in 2022. Every 1 yuan invested in computing power will drive 3 to 4 yuan of GDP economic growth. As of the end of 2022, China has more than 6.5 million standard racks in use, with a total computing power of 180 EFLOPS, second only to the United States, and a total storage capacity of more than 1,000 EB (1 trillion GB).
With the full opening of the digital economy era, computing power has penetrated into all areas of production and life like water and electricity. In recent years, the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology has cooperated with all parties to take multiple measures to build a high-quality computing power supply system and continuously improve the comprehensive capabilities of computing power infrastructure. Computing power development planning policies have been promulgated one after another, with strong and effective institutional guarantees; the construction of computing power infrastructure has been solidly advanced, and the development momentum has continued to increase; computing power has empowered the transformation and upgrading of traditional industries, and the emergence of integrated applications has accelerated.
According to Xie Cun, director of the Department of Information and Communication Development of the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology, the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology will continue to implement policies and strengthen top-level design in the next step. Based on the latest developments in the computing power industry, it is planned to issue policy documents to promote the high-quality development of computing power infrastructure, further strengthen the top-level design, and improve the comprehensive supply capacity of computing power.
