On July 16, 2021, the national carbon emissions trading market was officially launched. In the first compliance cycle, 2,162 key emission units in the power generation industry were included, covering about 4.5 billion tons of carbon dioxide emissions per year, which is the global coverage of greenhouse gas emissions. The largest carbon market, by the end of 2021, the first compliance cycle of the national carbon market has successfully concluded, with a compliance completion rate of 99.5%.
According to transaction data, as of June 30, 2023, the cumulative transaction volume of carbon emission allowances (CEA) in the national carbon market was 237685104 tons, and the cumulative transaction value was 10911600809.85 yuan. Liu Wenbo said, "The trading price of carbon allowances fluctuates within the range of 40 yuan to 60 yuan per ton, and there has been no sharp rise or fall."
Liu Wenbo said that overall, the current national carbon market is operating in a stable and orderly manner, transaction prices are rising steadily, the role of the price discovery mechanism has initially emerged, the awareness and ability of enterprises to reduce emissions have been effectively improved, and the expected construction goals have been achieved .
