Steel prices continue to fall
In May, the steel market demand continued the weak operation trend of last month. On the one hand, the performance of the real estate industry continued to be sluggish, with a 21.2% decrease in the area of new housing construction, slow progress in the issuance of local bonds, and a slowdown in the progress of infrastructure projects, which continued to weaken the support for the steel market demand; on the other hand, the price of raw materials continued to decline. Support weakened. On the whole, the steel market was relatively sluggish in May. Among them, the comprehensive average prices of construction steel and ordinary plates in the whole region are 3892.36 yuan and 4326.69 yuan per ton respectively. Compared with April 2023 (hereinafter referred to as the month-on-month period), the prices of construction steel and ordinary plates decreased by 7.40% and 4.29% respectively; compared with May 2022 (hereinafter referred to as the same period), the prices of construction steel and ordinary plates decreased by 23.66% respectively , 20.72%.
Among other steel products, the average prices of round steel (φ16mm, HPB235) and stainless steel plate (1.2,304/2B cold-rolled) this month were 4077.75 yuan and 17275.00 yuan per ton respectively; Board prices fell by 4.73% and 1.85% respectively; year-on-year prices fell by 20.76% and 10.65% respectively.
