According to the Malaysian Bureau of Statistics on June 8, the export volume of natural rubber in April 2023 decreased by 35.6% year-on-year to 37,728 tons, and decreased by 17.6% month-on-month. Among them, 48.4% were exported to China, followed by Germany 11.7%, Pakistan 5.6%, Turkey 3.9%, and Portugal 3.3%.
In April, Malaysia imported 56,608 tons of natural rubber, down 45.9% year-on-year and 42.1% month-on-month. Standard rubber, concentrated latex, and natural rubber in other shapes are the main import categories, and their main import sources are Thailand, Côte d'Ivoire, the Philippines, and Myanmar.
The total output of natural rubber that can be monitored in April was 23,460 tons, an increase of 3.4% year-on-year and a decrease of 13.7% month-on-month. Among them, the production of small gardens accounted for 87.7%, and the production of state-owned plantations accounted for 12.3%.
Malaysia's natural rubber inventory in April was 194,527 tons, down 4.5% month-on-month and 36.2% year-on-year. Among them, 91.2% of the inventory is concentrated in the hands of rubber processors, the downstream terminal inventory accounts for 8.7%, and the inventory of large planters accounts for 0.1%.
In April, total domestic natural rubber consumption decreased by 36.6% year-on-year to 26,852 tons, and decreased by 0.5% month-on-month. The latex glove industry is still the main force of natural rubber consumption in Malaysia, accounting for 76.4% of consumption, 3.3% of tire and hose consumption, 8.3% of rubber thread, and 12% of other industries.
