It took less than 3 years from the delivery of the first Chinese-made model to the achievement of this milestone , which is also a "phenomenal" record in the history of the global auto industry. The Texas Gigafactory in the United States and the Berlin Gigafactory, which will be put into operation in 2022, are also "replicating" the production efficiency and industrial impact of the Shanghai Gigafactory on a global scale.
The reporter learned from Tesla China that the localization rate of the industrial chain of Shanghai Gigafactory has exceeded 95%, and 99.99% of the employees are Chinese. At the same time, the introduction of Tesla in Shanghai has also promoted the upgrading and innovation of Shanghai and its surrounding areas, and even the entire Chinese auto industry chain.
At present, Tesla Shanghai Gigafactory has formed a full range of new energy auto parts such as batteries, automotive chips, automatic driving systems, automotive interiors, and precision machining in Shanghai, Suzhou, Ningbo, Nantong and other Yangtze River Delta regions. The ecological chain has also opened up the national automobile industry chain market, forming a complete "safe, independent, and controllable" industrial ecology.
