On the day of World Environment Day on June 5, the first carbon account system for drivers in China's freight industry was officially launched. It is reported that the system is jointly developed by China's digital freight platform Manbang Group and Nanjing University of Posts and Telecommunications. The first batch of "carbon accounts" will be opened to 3,000 truck drivers across the country.
Road freight is the core battlefield for carbon emission reduction in China's transportation sector. Statistics show that carbon emissions in the transportation sector account for about 10% of China's total carbon emissions. In the field of transportation, carbon emissions from road traffic account for more than 80%, of which carbon emissions from road freight account for more than 60%. To realize the double carbon target in the field of transportation, road logistics is very important.
According to reports, Manbang has achieved efficient matching of supply and demand and route optimization through big data, cloud computing, and artificial intelligence, which has significantly reduced the phenomenon of "three empty" (empty, empty, and empty) in road transportation. It reduces the carbon emission factor of vehicle unit transportation turnover, thereby helping road logistics to reduce greenhouse gas emissions.
According to estimates, in 2022, nearly ten million truck drivers will complete a transportation turnover of hundreds of billions of tons of kilometers on the Manbang platform, and the cumulative carbon emission reduction will be 12 million tons, which is equivalent to saving more than 4.6 billion liters of diesel for drivers.
Now that the carbon account is online, truck drivers have a new motivation to save energy and reduce emissions. Through the carbon account, the driver can check the carbon assets obtained by himself in the delivery of goods. In order to encourage truck drivers to save energy and reduce carbon emissions through the platform, Manbang has set up a special green fund. By issuing corresponding green rights and interests to drivers, it mobilizes the enthusiasm of drivers to reduce "three empty" and increase effective transportation mileage, thereby achieving the goal of carbon emission reduction. Let drivers "run more and more money".
With the launch of the carbon account, the green development process of China's road logistics is expected to be further accelerated. Ren Haoxiang, vice president of the China Federation of Logistics and Purchasing and president of the China Society of Logistics, pointed out that the establishment of drivers' carbon accounts will provide a new solution and technical path for the low-carbon development of road freight, and at the same time help to improve the energy saving and carbon reduction of the majority of drivers Awareness, cultivate fuel-efficient driving habits, implement green and low-carbon into the implementation level, and implement it in the most practical way.
