BMW Group plans to launch NEUE in 2025
KLASSE models use decorative parts that contain 30% marine plastic waste. Compared with traditional petroleum-based plastic parts, this recycled material trim can reduce the carbon footprint by 25%.
According to reports, BMW Group will purchase discarded plastic fishing nets and ropes in ports around the world. BMW has cooperated with the Danish company PLASTIX to process fishing nets and ropes into recycled plastic pellets, which can be used for injection molding of interior and exterior trim.
In addition, the nylon content in these discarded fishing nets can be used to make the synthetic yarn ECONYL, which is used for the floor mats of the BMW iX and the new BMW X1.
