A few days ago, the investment project of Zhejiang Changhong Biomaterials Co., Ltd. with an annual output of 180,000 tons of PBAT construction project was completed in the energy-saving review of Shaoxing Development and Reform Commission.
This project adds two new PBAT degradable plastic continuous polymerization production lines, with a single-line design capacity of 90,000 tons per year and a total investment of 980 million yuan. The planned completion time is August 2024.
Utilizing the existing condensate water system, waste water system, gas-fired organic heat carrier furnace and other auxiliary and ancillary facilities, after completion, an additional annual production capacity of 180,000 tons of PBAT degradable plastics and 19,800 tons of THF (tetrahydrofuran) by-product will be formed.
The main energy-saving measures of the project include the use of BDO steam injection to generate vacuum, the design of BDO in the project according to full recycling in the device, and the process optimization of the project esterification and polycondensation reactor, adding a set of polycondensation 2 systems, reducing the ratio of materials, and reducing retention time and reduce calorie consumption.
Changhong Biology has a total planning of 600,000 tons of PBAT production capacity, and the project will be carried out in two phases, each phase of 300,000 tons per year, with a total construction period of 5 years. In the first phase, a 120,000-ton/year production line will be built for the first time, with an investment of 1 billion yuan. The first phase of the first project has been completed in September 2021. The first phase of the 120,000-ton/year production line has undergone several months of production and commissioning, and produced qualified products in December. Later, due to the high price of BDO, the 60,000-ton plant was changed to produce PBT, and the other 60,000-ton PBAT plant was currently shut down.
