Corbion) and rigid packaging supplier Coexpan have announced the launch of a new cup, produced using form-fill-seal (FFS) technology made from recycled PLA. Cups are available in white and high clarity.
All testing of the new solution took place at Coexpan’s Innotech Center in Spain, where Coexpan and Innotech are continuously researching options to reduce the carbon footprint of the products they offer. Producing the cups from recycled materials does not require additional investment or major changes to existing FFS facilities.

“We have been using this material for over 10 years and it is undoubtedly the leading PLA resin converter in the FFS market,” Sanchez said.
Total Corbien is actively promoting the development of PLA collection structures to expand the options for PLA recycling.
