Recently, the draft environmental impact report of Wanhua Chemical Group Co., Ltd.’s 120,000-ton thermoplastic polyurethane elastomer expansion project (phase two changes) per year was released.

Project overview: This project will build 3 new polyol production lines and 2 TPU production lines, with a production scale of 40,000 tons/year polyester polyol and 50,000 tons/year TPU, related heating, water supply, gas supply and other public projects and environmental protection The projects all rely on Wanhua’s existing facilities.
Details and reasons for project changes
Wanhua Chemical Yantai Industrial Park is constructing TPU devices in three phases, all of which have obtained environmental impact assessment procedures. The current total TPU production capacity is 210,000 tons/year. The first phase of the project will build a 60,000 ton/year polyol unit and a 60,000 ton/year TPU unit; the second phase of the project will build a 25,000 ton/year polyol unit and a 30,000 ton/year TPU unit; the third phase of the project will build a 90,000 ton /year polyol plant, 120,000 tons/year TPU
device.
The third phase of the project is the “120,000 tons of thermoplastic polyurethane elastomer expansion project per year”. The project was approved by the Yantai Municipal Ecological Environment Bureau in September 2019 (Yantai Environmental Protection Examination [2019] 38
No.), the main construction content includes a 90,000 tons/year polyester polyol plant and a 120,000 tons/year TPU plant.
In order to achieve product diversification, high added value, and further improve product competitiveness, Wanhua Chemical decided to change the construction content of Phase 3-2. The main changes include changes in raw and auxiliary materials and changes in production lines. Projects before and after the change The production capacity remains unchanged. After the change, the main construction content is to build 3 polyol production lines and 2 TPU production lines, with a production scale of 40,000 tons/year polyester polyol and 50,000 tons/year TPU.
