Foreign media on May 9: Peru's copper output reached 219,275 tons in March, the Ministry of Energy and Mines said on Tuesday, as large copper mines resumed operations after social unrest caused shutdowns at the beginning of the year. Peruvian copper production was 615,514 tonnes in the first quarter, up 11.2% from the same period in 2022. Output at Glencore's Antapaque mine and Minmetals Resources' Las Bambas copper mine fell sharply in February as domestic protests blocked a key road. However, Southern Copper's output rose nearly 80 percent year-on-year in March, while Antapaky's production rose 65 percent and Cerro Verde's output rose 7.3 percent.
