Foreign news on May 9, data released by the American Petroleum Institute (API) on Tuesday showed that crude oil and gasoline inventories unexpectedly increased last week, while distillate inventories decreased.
U.S. crude oil inventories rose by about 3.6 million barrels in the week ended May 5, gasoline inventories rose by 399,000 barrels and distillate inventories fell by 3.9 million barrels.
Analysts surveyed had expected crude oil inventories to fall by 900,000 barrels last week, gasoline inventories fell by 1.2 million barrels and distillate inventories fell by 800,000 barrels.
