The United Nations 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development is halfway through, how to promote the better realization of various sustainable development goals? At the 4th United Nations World Data Forum being held in Hangzhou, Zhejiang, all participants are full of expectations for the power of data.
Among the 17 sustainable development goals proposed by the United Nations 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development, "no poverty" ranks first. Haishan Fu, director of the Development Data Bureau of the World Bank, pointed out at the China Plenary Session of this forum that since 1990, the total number of poor people in the world has been reduced by more than 1 billion, and great progress has been made, in which China has played an active leading role.
Statistics are regarded as an important yardstick for measuring the progress of economic development and poverty reduction. Fu Haishan noticed that the current global public sector is producing more and more data, and hopes that all parties can fully tap the value and potential of data to further provide solutions for poverty eradication and other goals.
"Statistical monitoring and data analysis have played an important role in the fight against poverty." Wang Xiaojun, dean of the School of Statistics at Renmin University of China, is also concerned about this topic. She appealed at the forum that in the era of big data, we should pay attention to data value development and digital governance, so as to better implement the United Nations 2030 sustainable development goals and improve people's lives and well-being.
Rachel Bivin, Director of the United Nations ESCAP Statistics Division, believes that in order to contribute to global sustainable development, all regions need to take more measures to address the data gap in the future. She suggested that all parties should incorporate data into policy formulation to better achieve the Sustainable Development Goals.
China's experience and solutions have attracted attention by using "data rule" to promote sustainable development.

China's experience will help other developing countries make better use of data and implement sustainable development goals.

Not only has it built the United Nations Big Data Global Platform China Regional Center with high standards, but the China-United Nations Statistical Capacity Development Trust Fund project has been implemented for more than ten years. It has promoted international advanced statistical methods and technologies, Beneficial explorations have also been carried out in improving the statistical capacity of developing countries.
