On April 11, 2023, Ascend Functional Materials held the “Ascend Suzhou Park Opening Ceremony” to demonstrate the capacity increase of the engineering materials production base and the Ascend Asia Pacific Innovation Center (AAIC) technical support and research and development capabilities.
Wan Xiaojun, Member of the Standing Committee of the Changshu Municipal Committee and Deputy Mayor, Ling Zhiyong, Deputy Secretary of the Party Working Committee and Director of the Management Committee of Changshu Yushan High-tech Industrial Development Zone, and Phil
McDivitt, Dr. Wu Xianliang, Global Senior Vice President and Managing Director of Asia Pacific, and Gustavo Nechar, Global Senior Vice President and Chief Human Resources Officer attended the ceremony and cut the ribbon together.
Ascend Suzhou Park covers an area of 29,896 square meters and is located in Fangbang Industrial Park, Changshu City. It has an engineering materials factory and an Asia-Pacific Innovation Center.
The Suzhou factory is Ascend’s first production base in China, which was established through asset acquisition in 2020. Ascend has fully upgraded the production facilities and supporting facilities and equipment, expanded the production capacity of flame retardant products, and improved the operating efficiency of the production line.

Overcoming the pressure brought by external factors such as epidemic prevention and control, the Ascend Asia-Pacific Innovation Center (AAIC) was officially completed and put into operation in April 2022. In response to market challenges and customer needs, it has developed innovative products in the fields of automobiles, electronics, consumer goods, and industry. Help customers solve technical problems and develop innovative materials.
AAIC has a processing center and an analysis and testing center. The processing center has an extrusion workshop, an injection molding workshop and a color matching room; the analysis and testing center has a characterization laboratory, a mechanics laboratory, an analysis laboratory, a UL laboratory, and an aging laboratory. Advanced experimental equipment and testing instruments not only have the test of basic physical properties, mechanical properties and flame retardant properties of materials, but also have microscopic analysis of material composition and morphology, high voltage resistance test, laser coding test, And the testing and characterization of functional thin film products; forming a complete R&D, process and verification process, currently in the process of ISO/IEC
17025 certified.
Dr. Wu Xianliang, Ascend’s global senior vice president and Asia Pacific managing director, said: “By upgrading the Ascend Suzhou production base and building the Ascend Asia Pacific Innovation Center, we have provided a solid hardware foundation and talent strength for our own innovation. , has demonstrated to the industry and the market the determination to promote development together with customers in China, Asia and even the world. Now, we are closer to customers, so that we can better and faster respond to customer needs and meet the growing market demand.
