BASF announced plans to build a second production line at the BASF Huizhou Daya Bay site in Guangdong Province to expand its polymer dispersions capacity. The new production line is scheduled to be operational in 2024.
As the world’s leading dispersion manufacturer, BASF is continuously investing in the fast-growing Asian market. BASF Huizhou Daya Bay Base has obvious geographical advantages and is close to key customers in South China. The base produces a variety of high-performance acrylic and styrene-butadiene dispersion products, which are suitable for industries such as coatings, construction, adhesives, paper, textiles and packaging, as well as new markets such as lithium-ion batteries.
Shuai Liu, Business Director of Dispersions Greater China, BASF, said: “This expansion marks another key milestone in the development of our polymer dispersions business in Greater China. Innovative polymer dispersions are very important to our customers in their markets. Success is critical. The addition of capacity will provide flexibility and sustainable growth to customers, especially in the South China market.”
Bir Darbar, Senior Vice President Dispersions Asia Pacific, BASF
Mehta added: “Through our global and Asia-Pacific R&D centers, we are eager to provide our customers with more sustainable and innovative products. For example, the Daya Bay site produces a new generation of dispersant products, such as BASF’s award-winning product – Angu Force Acronal®
PLUS 7679. It combines our latest odor reduction (AOR) technology to reduce the odor of interior wall paint and set a new standard for interior wall paint. ”
BASF’s Dispersions division operates three production sites in China. Its BASF Huizhou Daya Bay site started operations in 2012.
