Momentive’s laboratory in Leverkusen, Germany has brand new equipment for fast and efficient testing of small batches of Niax polyurethane foam additive formulations.
Momentive has announced a technology investment in Europe, equipping its laboratory in Leverkusen, Germany with a new state-of-the-art pilot plant.
With this new facility, Momentive will be able to develop and more efficiently test Niax block polyurethane (PU) foams as well as additives, as well as prototype their products for the bedding, furniture and automotive industries directly in Momentive’s German PU laboratory.
The high-precision pilot plant converts the highest quality small-batch production of flexible foam directly into a large-scale manufacturing process. By creating small batches, it also makes it easier, faster and more precise to evaluate the properties, specific performance and quality of polyurethane slabstock formulations directly in the laboratory, without interrupting the actual production cycle or requiring full production testing The resulting waste of raw materials.
Alberto, Global Business Unit Leader, Polyurethane Slab Foam Additives, Momentive
Dr. Melle said: “This new facility will allow precise testing and production of tailor-made formulations for our customers, rapid delivery of samples, and development of entirely new products. Furthermore, by avoiding waste of production and raw materials, the new facility will help reduce the need for environmental impact, thereby enabling a more efficient approach. This is a great achievement, and together with the recent expansion of our factory in Termoli, Italy, demonstrates our commitment to our European customers. The company will benefit from the flexibility of testing, which improves the company’s expertise in providing innovative foaming solutions to the polyurethane industry.”
