Recently, the environmental impact assessment report of the glycol unit project of BASF (Guangdong) integrated project was made public.

BASF Integrated Base (Guangdong) Co., Ltd. plans to build a new glycol monoether device project, using the ethylene oxide produced by the integrated project as raw material to produce triethylene glycol methyl ether, diethylene glycol methyl ether, and tetraethylene glycol methyl ether. Alcohol methyl ether. This project uses BASF’s own continuous tubular ethoxylation technology to produce glycol monoether products. This process technology has been successfully and stably operating in similar BASF factories in Germany for 30 years. It has the advantages of mature technology, stable reaction process, smooth and safe reaction process, low by-products, and high purity. The construction of this project will further improve the downstream chemical industry of cyclic ethane in BASF’s integrated base. industrial chain, enrich the structure of downstream products and improve competitiveness.

Construction scale and product plan: This project will build a new set of glycol monoether equipment with design scale
46,000 tons/year, operating flexibility 60%~110%. Products include triethylene glycol methyl ether (MTG), diethylene glycol methyl ether (MDG), and tetraz glycol methyl ether (MTeG). The product specifications of MTG, MDG and MTeG meet the requirements of “Polyethoxylated Fatty Alcohols” (GB/T
17829-1999) requirements.

The entire BASF Guangdong base integration project is located in the Donghai Island Petrochemical Industrial Park. The construction content is to build a new 1 million tons/year ethylene cracking unit, and use it as a leader to build ethylene and propylene downstream product production equipment, as well as other supporting equipment, including 66 /830,000 tons/year ethylene oxide/ethylene glycol unit (including 200,000 tons/year refined cycloethane (PEO)), 500,000 tons polyethylene unit, 2X190,000 tons/year ice acrylic acid unit, 375,000 tons Butyl acrylate plant, 100,000 tons/year isooctyl acrylate plant, 500,000 tons/year butyl octanol plant, 50,000 standard cubic meters/hour syngas plant, 80,000 tons/year (100% off) neopentyl glycol plant, 110,000 tons/year A unit, 40,000 tons/year citral unit, and supporting storage and transportation projects, public works, auxiliary facilities, seawater intake and drainage projects, wastewater treatment and other environmental protection projects. As of now, the project is under construction and is scheduled to be completed and put into production by the end of 2025.
