At the end of December this year, the first phase of the environmentally friendly bottle-grade polyester and biodegradable new materials project invested by Yipu New Materials Co., Ltd. has an annual output of 720,000 tons and an annual output of 120,000 tons of degradable polyester new materials. The material PBAT/PBS device will be put into operation.

It is understood that in June 2021, Yipu New Materials Co., Ltd.’s annual output of 720,000 tons of environmentally friendly bottle-grade polyester and biodegradable new materials projects was introduced to Karamay, Xinjiang.

The project will start construction in March 2022, with a total investment of 2 billion yuan, and will be constructed in two phases. It is expected to achieve annual sales revenue of 6 billion yuan, profits and taxes of 800 million yuan, and create employment for 300 people after reaching capacity.

At present, the first phase of the project has been basically completed, mainly including a bottle-grade polyester production device with an annual output of 300,000 tons, a degradable new material polyester device with an annual output of 120,000 tons, and 18 production workshops, finished product warehouses, pipe racks, etc. stand-alone building.

According to Lu Xukun, chairman of Yipu New Materials Co., Ltd., the bottle-grade polyester production unit with an annual output of 300,000 tons uses metal-free catalysts to replace the current traditional antimony/titanium catalysts, which is not only more environmentally friendly and healthy, but also fills a gap in the industry. The 120,000-ton degradable polymer new material device uses a one-step process to produce products, effectively avoiding harmful genes introduced due to chain extension and improving the food safety performance of the product.

“After the project is completed, it will not only provide new polyester materials with reliable performance and affordable prices to the vast areas in the central and western regions, but also provide the possibility for the products to be used in food and drug packaging, agricultural production and other fields.” Lu Xukun said that Karamay has a unique location , resource advantages, here, companies are confident to seize new development opportunities, rise and grow in market competition, and become the main supplier of degradable materials in the central and western parts of the plastics industry.
