Twenty-one years of take-off, PPG helps the aviation industry create a better future

On December 14, 2023, PPG announced that the 21st anniversary celebration and new product exchange meeting of PPG Aerospace Materials was grandly held in Suzhou. With the theme of “Twenty-one Years of Soaring, Working Together to Create the Future”, the event comprehensively demonstrated the remarkable achievements of PPG Aerospace Materials in China over more than 20 years. Over the years, PPG has made outstanding contributions to the development of China’s aviation industry with its industry-leading technology and innovative products. More than a hundred customer representatives from the aviation industry attended the event to participate in this event.

The aviation manufacturing industry is known as the “crown industry” in modern manufacturing. After long-term development, China’s aviation industry has accumulated solid technology and a stable industrial chain. In order to support the development of the industry, PPG Aviation Materials settled in Suzhou in 2002. Later, in order to further provide customers with diversified services, PPG Aviation Materials Co., Ltd. was established in the Tianjin Free Trade Zone in 2012. For more than 20 years, PPG has received strong support from the local governments of Suzhou and Tianjin. In the future, PPG will further empower the new development of the aviation industry through continued investment and expanded layout.

As one of the major suppliers of commercial aviation, PPG Aviation is committed to creating innovative, sustainable and colorful products and adhering to the company’s mission “We protect and beautify the world.” At this event, PPG demonstrated COMAC’s successful C919 large aircraft cockpit windshield. Its streamlined appearance can reduce wind resistance, and the selected materials and design can minimize weight. Not only that, PPG also demonstrated the first electrophoretic paint for aviation manufacturing, which surpasses existing products in terms of no heavy metals, ultra-low VOC emissions and high production efficiency. PPG’s products are widely used in almost all aircraft models including the C919 and ARJ21 independently developed by the country, as well as Boeing and Airbus.

PPG’s green and sustainable development and reduction of carbon emissions are not only reflected in products, but also in applications and service support. PPG’s chemical management system, including smart cabinet systems, can effectively help customers reduce scrap. At the same time, the improvement and full utilization of digitalization and intelligence in factory operations can manage and optimize inventory for customers, thereby reducing operating costs and thereby improving production efficiency. It is worth noting that PPG’s newly established automatic color matching system for aviation coatings not only improves production efficiency, but also plays a key role in ensuring a stable supply of products.
