Clariant, the world's leading manufacturer of specialty chemicals, today launched MegaGuard 700 Catalyst Protectant at the 2016 Clariant Syngas Conference in Xi'an, China. This product protects methanol synthesis catalysts, such as Clariant's MegaMax range, from poisoning such catalysts caused by iron. This new catalyst protector can effectively capture and decompose iron compounds, thus ensuring that MegaMax series catalysts maintain excellent catalytic activity and selectivity during long-term use.
Iron is a typical catalyst poison in methanol production. Elemental iron in steel equipment reacts with carbon monoxide in the syngas to form iron carbide and volatile iron carbonyls. These compounds will irreversibly reduce the activity and mechanical stability of the catalyst, thereby shortening the service life of the catalyst for methanol synthesis to a considerable extent.
Clariant MegaGuard 700 has excellent iron removal performance, which can prevent iron compounds from entering the MegaMax series methanol synthesis catalysts, thereby preventing catalyst poisoning and ensuring that the MegaMax series catalysts can maintain good catalytic activity throughout the expected service life and selective.
The efficient MegaGuard 700 protective agent is used in conjunction with the excellent MegaMax series methanol synthesis catalysts, which can greatly improve the reliability of equipment, increase methanol production, and save energy consumption, thereby ensuring higher profitability for methanol producers.
Stefan Heuser, Senior Vice President and General Manager of Clariant's Catalyst Business Unit, said: "MegaGuard 700 can provide powerful iron removal protection for MegaMax series catalysts, making customers' production processes more reliable. MegaGuard 700 can remove iron The harmful iron element in the catalyst can greatly improve the production efficiency and production capacity of the plant, and create real value for methanol producers.”
Clariant Catalysts not only supplies technologically advanced catalyst products, but also provides customers with comprehensive services in the use of catalysts. Our dedicated service support begins with the initial stages of plant design and construction, during which we provide process information, including start-up assistance when the plant is commissioned, and then continue with ongoing maintenance to ensure catalysts are for optimal performance during operation.
