Recently, Sinopec Baling Petrochemical Co., Ltd. led the completion of the "New Generation of High-performance Styrenic Thermoplastic Elastomer Complete Technology" project, which won the second prize of the 2014 National Science and Technology Progress Award.
The project was jointly completed by Baling Petrochemical, Sichuan University, Beijing University of Chemical Technology, and Hunan Baili Engineering Technology Company. The success of the project broke the long-term monopoly of the United States, Japan and other countries, and enabled the preparation technology and products of a new generation of high-performance styrene-based thermoplastic elastomers (ie, thermoplastic rubber SEBS) to achieve leapfrog development. At present, the products have occupied nearly 60% of the domestic market and exported to Europe and America.
SEBS is known as "rubber gold" in the industry. It has the characteristics of aging resistance, safety and non-toxicity, and environmental protection. It is mainly used in pharmaceutical packaging, medical infusion equipment, food packaging, wire and cable, high-grade asphalt modification and The fields of elastic materials in contact with the human body are the key development products of the national strategic emerging industries. Because the price of imported SEBS was once as high as 50,000 to 80,000 yuan/ton, it seriously affected the development of related industries in my country.
In 1996, Baling Petrochemical started independent research and development of SEBS together with its cooperative units. In 1998, the small test research was completed, and the pilot test technology development was completed in 2003, and the cooperation intention proposed by foreign companies was rejected, and the development of the first domestic 10,000-ton SEBS complete set of technology was started. In March 2006, Baling Petrochemical built a 10,000-ton industrial plant and successfully tested it once. It has completed the industrial test of 11 brands of linear and star series products, filling the gap in domestic SEBS production. Among them, the star product is the only one in the world. There are products.
The development and industrialization of 10,000-ton SEBS complete sets of technology reduced the average price of SEBS in the domestic market by about 50% in 2006, greatly improving the core competitiveness of my country's medical, consumer electronics, and daily necessities industries. The domestic market consumption of SEBS has grown from 6,000 tons in 2005 to about 70,000 tons in 2014, of which the product consumption of this project exceeds 40,000 tons per year.
