WFI Global LLC has developed the first polyurethane foam for windows using renewable agricultural materials.
The company claims that the soybean oil-based product, scientifically named UCore+, is a low-density insulating foam. Injecting it into vinyl and fiberglass window cavities effectively improves thermal performance by up to 8%.
UCore+ is also the only window foam product certified under the USDA Biobased Priority Program, said WFI President Terry Walker. To obtain this certification, the bio-based content of the product needs to reach 7%, and Wofu International far exceeds this requirement with a bio-based content of 19%.
