The recent soft foam polyether market is tepid. Before the Mid-Autumn Festival, there was a small wave of just-needed orders, but the delivery volume was also weaker than previous periods. Most of the products were actively shipped by manufacturers, and the buying boom of Gold, September and Silver October did not appear. At present, the mainstream delivery price of soft foam polyether in East China is 13,300-13,400 yuan/ton, and the average price in September 2018 is 13,400 yuan. Compared with 11790 in the same period last year, it has increased by 13.7%. However, according to the statistical data analysis of Tiantian Chemical Network, from July to September 2018, the profit of soft foam polyether was far less than that in 2017 same period. The average gross profit margin for the same period in 2017 was 4.32%, compared to 1.67% for the same period in 2018.

According to market news, due to the stalemate in the upstream market and high sideways trading, the downstream sponge factories are currently mainly digesting their own inventory, and a small amount of just-needed goods are needed to replenish their positions. Moreover, the profit of the sponge factory is also being compressed, which is not as good as the same period last year. From a macro perspective, the escalating trade war is slowly showing its impact. The decrease in export orders affects the end demand, and the pace of the overall economic environment slows down.
However, short-term analysis, the polyether market is not necessarily pessimistic. In terms of raw materials, the prices of propylene and liquid chlorine have skyrocketed, and the cyclopropane market may be under pressure to raise prices. The price of polyether will also be affected by this, and it is not easy to weaken. On the supply side, a mainstream factory in Shandong has a plan to shut down for maintenance after the 11th, and the supply side is slightly tight. On the demand side, although the overall demand side is weak, rigid demand is still there. There is currently a demand gap in downstream sponge factories. It is very likely that there will be a situation of replenishment after the eleventh, which may boost the market.
All in all, although the gold, silver and ten peak seasons are not busy, raw material prices are rising and short-term demand is still there. If there is just demand after the festival, soft foam polyether The market may go up.
