In the first half of 2020, the total import of polytetramethylene ether glycol (PTMEG) in primary form in China was 24,057 tons, a cumulative decrease of 6.36% compared with the 25,690 tons from January to June 2019; The total export volume in the first half of the year was 4,978 tons, a cumulative decrease of 16.60% compared to the 5,968 tons from January to June 2019, as shown in Figure 1 below.
Main sources of China’s PTMEG imports in 2020 China’s Taiwan and South Korea account for about 95.0% of the import market. In 2019, China’s Taiwan and South Korea’s import market share accounted for 94.7%, as shown in Figure 2 below. From the distribution of global PTMEG production equipment, East Asia is the main production place of PTMEG and the source of China’s important import market.
In 2020, the main export destinations of China’s PTMEG are Singapore, South Korea, and Thailand. The market share of the three can account for 90.3%, and the market share of the three in 2019 can account for 85.7%, as shown in Figure 3 below.
