IRPC, the petrochemical department of Thailand's national oil and gas group PTT Plc, announced on Friday that due to the current high profits of specialty polyethers, IRPC will add production lines in the field of specialty polyethers. It is reported that the new production line IRPC will be allocated and used gradually from 2022 to 2026 with a budget of 5 billion to 60 billion baht. For the purchase of the new production line, IRPC said that it will announce the purchase in the second half of the year.

IRPCCompany representatives claim that revenue from specialty polyether products will increase IRPC’s profit margins. Stepping up to a new level, it is estimated that the net profit in 2030 may account for 55% of the total profit, at least 25%. The remaining 75% of IRPC's profits come mainly from sales of petrochemical products and refined oil products.

IRPCThe representative of the company said that IRPC will focus on the production and The main reason is that IRPC hopes to avoid fierce and meaningless price competition with other companies in the commodity-grade polyether polyol market and refined oil market in the future.

Special polyethers are currently mainly used as raw materials for the production of medical equipment and new energy auto parts, and can also be used in food manufacturing. IRPC also announced that it will jointly establish Inopolymed Co with PTT to focus on the production of medical equipment. It is reported that Inopolymed Co will upgrade its production facilities with a budget of 13 billion baht. The new facility is expected to start operating in 2024.

Its non-woven fabric production facility in Rayong, Thailand, has started operations and currently has an annual production capacity of 2,000 tons. IRPC said that high-quality materials commonly used in the medical industry in the future, such as N95 masks, will be the company's main production direction next. Of course, in addition to being used for the production of surgical masks, this type of non-woven fabric can also be used as raw materials for the manufacture of sanitary napkins and baby diapers.

Special polyether can also be used as a material in the production process of new energy batteries, including the production of battery separators and absorbents. As the new energy vehicle market is getting hotter and hotter today, it is just around the corner to see the application of IRPC special polyether in new energy vehicles in the future. In the field of auto parts, IRPC will cooperate with Japan Polypropylene Company (JPP) to jointly establish a new energy vehicle business in Thailand. At the same time, JPP hopes to expand the company's share in the chemical market in Southeast Asia through IRPC's influence in Thailand.
